Mixed Media, Acrylics, Oils, Photography

I am combining my studies for a degree in visual arts with running a home and working full time as a care assistant. My children are all grown up, so I use my art to express myself when difficult feelings arise. I am a grandmother, so I have taken time to look at the pictures my grandchildren draw. I wish I could draw like that.

My art has become my focus in life. When I want to work through a painting, it develops in unexpected ways because I am impulsive. I love colour and vibrant colours together. Often I work in response to other artists, particularly recently I have been looking at Chaim Soutine and Oskar Kokoschka. But I am open to new ideas and I love to visit galleries. The Leeds City Art Gallery is a favourite of mine.

I have an exhibition in the Sports Centre in Todmorden Park. Also, there is some of my work in the 3 Wise Monkeys restaurant on the corner of Water Street in Todmorden.

I am looking forward to my exhibition in the Platform One Gallery in August.
